FAQ

SOLAN partners only with providers who utilize the highest rated insurance underwriters for pre planning in the industry.  As part of our family, we want to ensure your peace of mind. The primary insurance underwriter for our providers has been underwriting this type of insurance since 1906.  Your counselor will provide all the details of your particular plan during your appointment and will be happy to cover the details with you.

What guarantee do I have that the money will be there when the time comes?

Yes.  There is no obligation to purchase anything during your appointment.  The planning guide you will be provided is our gift to you and your family.  Our counselors are there to guide you through the planning process whether you choose to pay for your services ahead of time or not.  There are significant benefits to paying ahead of time, but your counselor can explain those in person.

Can I make arrangements without purchasing them now?

Yes.  There are significant personal, financial, and family advantages to pre-planning.  But in some instances, pre-planning makes more sense than others.  Only you can decide if it is right for you.  Our counselors are available to help you obtain the information needed in order to make an informed decision in your circumstance.  Like all goods and services, prices in this industry rise over time.  With pre-planning, today's prices can be locked in.

Is it true that pre-planning is not a good idea in all situations?

The end of life care industry is very large and when a mistake is made by a small provider, the sensitive nature of the industry creates sensational headlines, but SOLAN carefully screens network providers to ensure that only the most experienced , reliable and trustworthy partners are allowed to serve you.

I've seen some bad press on pre planning.  Are they talking about your services?

04 /

Yes.  Our counselors are familiar with the various options available as well as the latest trends in the industry.  This is your service, your family, and your legacy.  We are here to help you make sure that your life is celebrated in exactly the way you want it to be.

I am interested in green options such as cremation or non-traditional burial.  Can you help me with this?

Laws vary by state, but generally, your policy can move with you and can be updated or changed at your convenience.  Your plan belongs to you, and you are encouraged to keep it up to date if your desires change.  Your counselor will answer any questions you may have regarding the specifics of your policy and any potential costs (if any) related to moving or transferring your policy.

What if I move or change my information?

The process, also known as“pre-arrangement”or “pre-need,”is straightforward. In essence, advance planning is choosing as well as purchasing final arrangements so that everything is in place before death occurs.

What is “advance planning?”

What if I want to be cremated?  Can I still plan a memorial service and can you help me?

Cremation allows for flexibility in arranging gatherings to mourn or celebrate the lives of those who have passed away. It also allows each person to express his/her individuality by choosing memorialization, special ceremony or scattering of ashes in a cherished place.  Cremation can also prove to be far more economical than a traditional burial.

Typically, a life insurance policy will take weeks or maybe months to pay off.  Additionally, a life insurance policy does not guarantee that any amount will be put towards your life's celebration.  There is a risk of the funds being tied up with legal delays, and there is no guarantee that the recipients will fund your final wishes.  Funding a preneed/pre-planned insurance policy is one of the best ways to make sure your final wishes are carried out.

What if I already have life insurance?  Won't it cover this?

In many cases, wills are not read until after the arrangements have been made.  Often, the will is not read until the services have been completed.  Relying on a will to express your final wishes and desires is risky, at best.  The better option is to pre-plan with experts in this area who can ensure the timing and details of your wishes are met exactly as you have set forth.
